Deep breath… drum roll please… I would like to announce that I have joined up with a programme at the music school where I do my choir thingy, to do ‘School of Rock’. “What is that?” I hear you ask. Well, it’s a programme which ends in a big concert in an actual venue in Sydney in front of hundreds of people. I have signed up as a vocalist (fancy word for singer). I have my “meet and greet” meeting with the producer/director next Wednesday. He will then ascertain which numbers I can be in and whether I can do both a solo part and then back up bits in other songs, or whether I will just do back ups. I don’t really mind if they don’t think I am ready for a solo number in a big show like that, it’s baby steps I’m after!
It’s all very exciting though. It means I have to dedicate time on Thursday nights for rehearsals, so that’s going to be great fun. It will be hard work as I’m still doing my choir too, so I’ll have LOTS of songs to learn my harmony bits for.
I will give an update as soon as I know what stuff I’ll be doing in the big show though. Fingers crossed for me everyone! The theme of the show is “One Hit Wonders”. Which should be quite fun. I don’t know yet which songs will be in there, but apparently there will a line up of 28 songs, and a cast of 25 musicians. Yay!
You may be wondering how I think I’ll find the time for this and the energy while still homeschooling and stuff? Well, our little boy has had quite a remarkable transformation lately. I still can’t say too much about it yet, but trust me, all is going up hill over here. There is still quite a bit of work to do with him, but we’ve seen a fantastic turn around in general behaviour, and we are going great… for now!
